AN ALL BLACKS TRAIN WRECK – GOODBYE COACH GOODBYE SKIPPER

Former Marlborough and King Country loose-forward Greg Brimble has had a GUTSFUL

Greg, like myself is a passionate All Blacks supporter and rides the roller-coasters of emotion involved following any sports team and we can take a beating when the opposition simply outplays you.

That of course is exactly what a brilliant Andy Farrell coached Ireland did to the All Blacks in taking out the series 2-1 despite losing the first test.

IRELAND CERTAINLY ACCEPTED THE CHALLENGE

However it’s not the loss we can’t take, it’s how the All Blacks performed and the alarming decline we’ve seen in this once great side since current coach Ian Foster took over from Steve Hansen with losses to England, Ireland, France and South Africa.

I say current coach but really hoping that by the end of the week the num skulls at the New Zealand Rugby Union who appointed Foster in the first place, have realised their disastrous mistake and immediately install Scott Robertson to take over.

UNDER PRESSURE

Greg (Brims) reckons the rot set in under Hansen when we drew the Irish and British Lions series and it just got a whole lot worse under Foster and his out of their depth assistants.

I won’t list all the firsts but here’s some of them in a highlights package that in any other commercial enterprise the boss would have been showed the door long ago.

1. Ireland only the fifth team to ever win a series versus the All Blacks in New Zealand

2. In 119 years of test rugby the All Blacks have never trailed by 19 points at halftime

3. First time since 1998 the All Blacks have lost successive home tests

4. Foster’s win percentage is well under 70 percent having lost seven from 24 tests including four of their last five matches

5. First All Blacks team to lose a test to Argentina

I’ll leave it there but there’s quite a few more unwanted stats against the current coach.

IRELAND IMPRESSED
WHAT JUST HAPPENED ??

Listen to a fired up and passionate discussion between myself and Brims about the current shambles that are the All Blacks, a passion that drove Greg to lose his rag during the match and suffer a significant post match hangover trying to drown his sorrows

Frank Endacott’s contribution to New Zealand rugby league is probably not fully appreciated by those who aren’t close to him.
