NO SECRETS TO CRUSADERS SUCCESS

The Crusaders are recognised as one of the greatest and most successful rugby clubs in the world and that reputation was further enhanced last Saturday in Hamilton where they won an unprecedented seventh successive title with a nail-biting 25-20 win over the Chiefs.

COACHING ROYALTY Mike Broad and All Blacks coach Scott Robertson

One man who witnessed first hand how this great franchise operates is former Australian under 21 rep, ex Australian schoolboys coach and owner/operater of New Gen Rugby Coaching in Brisbane Michael Broad.

He, along with several other rugby coaches from around the world were invited to the club’s headquarters in Christchurch recently to witness first hand what makes the Crusaders the powerhouse they are.

ONE OF THE GREATS Chatting to champion first five Richie Mo’unga and other members of the Crusaders team was a highlight of Mikes visit

Michael said he and the other coaches were warmly welcomed into the environment and treated like one of the team and that, he said, is one of the key ingredients to their success, everyone right from the front office to the players and management no matter what your job is valued equally for their contribution. They are also open to new ideas always looking for that extra edge.

Michael got to attend Crusaders trainings and meet the players and coach Scott Robertson, later this year to become All Blacks head coach.

Black Ferns great Kendra Cocksedge was as well part of the vast pool of rugby knowledge at the Crusaders

Listen to my John Alexander) chat with Michael about his memorable experience in Christchurch and his views on the Wallabies squad named this week for the Rugby Championship which kicks off for the Wallabies on July 8 in Pretoria v South Africa.
